Dealing with Rejection
Written By: Dr. Simone Arnold

As I reflect on 2022, I’ve realized that I’m not alone when it comes to rejection. We’ve all encountered these moments personally and professionally.

Far too often, we take up room dwelling on the sadness and may likely miss out on the opportunity to rebuild, reinvent, or be reinvigorated to stay the course. Clearly, how we react to such situations set the stage for our continued growth and success.

I’ve learned that as life throws rejections our way, finding root in the statement provides sound perspective:

“We do not grow in happiness, but we grow in sadness. Each rejection teaches us something new.”- Avijeet Das

There are several ways to thrive beyond rejection:

  • Accept gracefully
  • Redirect anger into a positive emotion
  • Be honest with yourself
  • Stop overthinking!
  • Allow yourself to feel, process emotions
  • Practice self-care and self-love
  • Address the situation with a cool, calm, and honest tone
  • Take courage knowing that rejection motivates, strengthens patience, and leads to growth
  • Know the best is yet to be

Richly to your success,
Dr. Simone
